Biostatistician / Data Scientist - Personalized Healthcare

About the role

Roche Diagnostics has a department of more than 100 biostatisticians, data scientists and data managers across its sites in Penzberg, Indianapolis, Mannheim and Sant Cugat del Vallès. In the Biostatistics & Personalized Healthcare team, you will contribute to the research, development and validation of biomarkers and Companion Diagnostics (CDx). You will receive structured mentorship from senior biostatisticians and apply data science principles to high-impact diagnostic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and validation of novel biomarkers and companion diagnostic assays
• Write, validate and run reproducible analysis scripts in R for analytical and clinical datasets
• Perform code peer reviews and quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and compliance with internal SOPs and regulatory standards
• Assist in drafting Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) and perform sample size and power calculations
• Partner with interdisciplinary study teams and present complex statistical findings clearly

Required profile

• Degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in statistics, mathematics, data science, physics, epidemiology or a related quantitative field
• Foundational understanding of diagnostic statistics such as ROC curves, cut-off determination, logistic regression, survival analysis or longitudinal modeling
• Fluency in English, written and spoken
• Preferred: prior exposure to diagnostic/pharmaceutical research or clinical trial data analysis through internships, working student roles or academic projects

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of R and report automation tools (LaTeX, R Markdown, knitr or Quarto)
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools is a plus
• Ability to explain quantitative concepts to non-statistical colleagues and strong technical documentation skills
