Boarding House Houseparent

About the role

Kings College School Soto de Viñuelas is looking for a Houseparent for its boarding community in Tenbury House, a boarding house serving Years 7-13. The role is central to the wellbeing and development of the boarders and works closely with the Head of Boarding and the House team. It is described as rewarding, demanding and highly impactful, with a flexible schedule of about 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday mornings.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the House when on duty, making sure policies and routines are followed.
• Provide pastoral care centred on pupils' welfare, safety and personal development.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider boarding community.
• Mentor a small number of boarders academically and support their progress.
• Promote good behaviour, discipline and adherence to school rules and the Code of Conduct.
• Help organise and lead weekend and evening activities for boarders.
• Support House routines such as wake-up, preparation, sign-in/out and tidiness.
• Uphold safeguarding, child protection and confidentiality requirements at all times.
• Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions and team communication.

Required profile

• Previous experience in boarding, pastoral care, youth work or education is desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in line with boarding needs.
• Willingness to live on-site during term time (accommodation provided).
• Commitment to safeguarding and to being a positive role model.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to stay calm and supportive.
• Genuine interest in the wellbeing and development of young people.
