Business Controller

About the role

Sulzer, a leading engineering company, is looking for a Business Controller in Rivas (Madrid). The Controller supports the financial integrity of the organisation through accurate reporting, compliance and internal controls, preparing financial statements, assisting with audits and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and policies. The role acts as the main financial link between local manufacturing operations and the Center of Excellence (CoE), coordinating key financial and project management activities.

Key responsibilities

• Track and manage sales and backlogs accurately, and monitor customer order contract profitability and utilisation metrics
• Link strategic plans to operational and financial drivers, aligning sales and operations planning, resource management, capital projects, other expenses and working capital planning
• Generate, model and execute action plans to close performance gaps and improve site performance
• Support business planning, forecasting and budgeting for the relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate tasks with the CoE and BPO team, carry out variance analysis and manage internal reports
• Support the Head Office on financial matters

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in Controlling
• Proven track record in inventory management, cost control and project management
• Experience in manufacturing is preferred
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Fluency in English (C1)

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of cost controlling, budgeting and financial planning
• MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with Tagetik and Qlik Sense is a plus
• Understanding of integrated ERP systems is a plus
• Comfortable working with databases and reporting tools
