Converter, Cooling & Electrical Engineer – Wind Turbines

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for a Converter, Cooling & Electrical Engineer to join its Renewables Wind team, based in Barcelona (Spain) or Saint-Herblain (France). The engineer provides advanced technical expertise to resolve complex system issues and ensure maximum availability of the wind turbine fleet, acting as a key technical authority for converters, cooling and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize converter performance through advanced diagnostics, failure analysis and proactive monitoring to reduce turbine downtime.
• Drive the technical resolution of complex turbine trips, giving clear, actionable work instructions so field technicians can restore service efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as EHS, Quality and Sourcing so repairs are done safely and to the highest standards.
• Improve operational procedures and fault-handling tools for both the Remote Operations Center and field teams.
• Develop long-term technical strategies to increase self-reliance in maintaining and operating converter systems.
• Report investigation results clearly to internal stakeholders and customers, and escalate recurring high-impact issues to Engineering teams to support root cause analysis.

Required profile

• A formal education as a certified technician or an engineering degree is essential; total experience and professional achievements are also considered.
• Ability to travel for field assignments, including offshore environments.
• Willingness to climb wind turbines to carry out technical assessments and support field operations.

Required skills

• Strong background in electrical and control systems.
• Ability to analyze complex data sets, including SCADA, controller and system trends.
• Understanding of wind turbine technology and operation, with a focus on converter and cooling systems.
• Expertise in electrical engineering or technical field support.
• Clear communication of technical solutions to field technicians and customers.
