Custom Software Developer - Jira, Confluence & Atlassian Portfolio

About the role

Roche's Engineering Excellence & Experience team, part of its RDT organization, owns and evolves the engineering tooling landscape that supports software development across the company, including the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), codebeamer, OpenPDM and AllureTestOps, in a global and highly regulated (GxP) environment. As a Custom Software Developer, you will own tasks and drive quality, design complex software solutions with strong full-stack expertise, and improve the software delivery process by tackling technical debt and architectural challenges. You will join a distributed, international team working closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners and software compliance colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of tasks and topics in the "grey zone" and drive small to medium initiatives
• Challenge the status quo, foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, coaching and mentoring
• Prioritize and communicate with stakeholders, keeping a big-picture view of how technical components fit into strategy
• Act as a technical mentor, share knowledge at events such as DevOps Days and Tech Talk, and contribute to initiatives beyond regular project scope
• Design, deploy and sustain software solutions tailored to business needs, and improve the software delivery process from code to production

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software engineering or IT platforms, including at least 3 years of hands-on Atlassian administration (ideally Atlassian Cloud)
• Current or past hands-on experience as a software developer
• Proven experience driving small to medium initiatives and acting as a technical mentor
• Accountable, proactive and autonomous, with strong planning and estimation skills

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Jira and Confluence, and hands-on Atlassian Cloud administration at enterprise scale; Data Center and migration experience is a plus
• Understanding of GxP and computer system validation (CSV), ideally on validated Jira templates
• Automation with scripts, APIs and Jira automation, and AI-assisted development tools
• Programming in Python, Java or JavaScript, with willingness to learn what is missing
• Software quality management, cybersecurity and secure software development practices
