Cybersecurity Student Intern (Blue Team)

About the role

Drees & Sommer is looking for a Cybersecurity Student / Intern in Málaga, ideally someone interested in the defensive side of cybersecurity (Blue Team) who has already explored the field through personal labs, projects or experimentation. The intern supports cybersecurity operations with real systems and real security challenges, working alongside experienced engineers. The position is an internship under a university agreement (convenio de prácticas) of 600 hours, which can be signed after the selection process.

Key responsibilities

• Support vulnerability management by tracking vulnerabilities and following up on remediation with the IT team
• Take part in emerging projects such as automating security tasks or maintaining operational workbooks and dashboards
• Assist in incident response, including reviewing unusual login activity and helping with initial triage of security alerts
• Analyze and process reported phishing emails, identify malicious messages and document findings
• Help document security incidents and update internal procedures, playbooks and security documentation
• Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on day-to-day tasks and learn how security operations work in practice

Required profile

• Active student status and ability to sign an extracurricular internship agreement (convenio de prácticas) for 600 hours
• Super fluent English, written and spoken; German is a plus but not required
• Strong foundational networking knowledge from university studies (TCP/IP, firewalls, network segmentation)
• Basic understanding of security incidents and common attacks such as phishing and malware
• Hands-on experience with CTF platforms (e.g. TryHackMe, HackTheBox) and personal projects or home labs
