Data Engineering Architect

About the role

Evinova, a healthtech leader, is looking for a Data Engineering Architect to guide the structure of its platform-wide data within its data foundation, enabling products, data science and agents to deliver leading capabilities. This is an in-office role in Barcelona with a minimum of three days per week on site; remote or travel flexibility is not available. The role sits among the senior-most data architects and engineers in the data foundation team, is hands-on and involves mentoring the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimize cloud-based data in the lakehouse, catalogue, pipelines and operational frameworks
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, and lead the adoption of tooling, patterns and automation best practices
• Partner with product management and security teams to align data foundation strategy with business goals

Required profile

• 10+ years in data engineering and data pattern roles, with significant experience in SaaS and multi-tenant data platforms
• Proven track record of mentoring team members in data platform projects
• Strong understanding of AWS services and containerization and orchestration
• Excellent verbal and written communication, able to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders

Required skills

• AWS: Lake Formation, Glue, Athena, EMR / Redshift Serverless, S3 Tables, Iceberg or Delta Lake, Kinesis Data Streams or MSK, IAM, KMS, Control Tower
• Infrastructure as Code: AWS CDK (TypeScript preferred) and CloudFormation; CI/CD with GitHub Actions and some Terraform
• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
• Monitoring and alerting: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch
• Data pipelines: AWS Glue, Kinesis, Managed Kafka; Python or PySpark for ETL and data quality
