Data Science Intern – Platform and Infrastructure

About the role

HP Barcelona's Analytics Enablement organization runs its Data Platforms, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and compliance practices, MLOps and software enablement tooling. As a Data Science Intern you will join the Platform and Infrastructure teams, helping them plan, deliver and continuously improve their work while learning how Agile delivery works in a modern, cloud-based technology organization. The internship starts in February 2027 and continues until June-July 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Scrum Master role: help facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives using Agile/Scrum practices inspired by SAFe.
• Keep Jira boards and Confluence pages accurate and up to date, and build and maintain JQL filters and dashboards.
• Help teams refine the backlog so epics and stories are clear, well-sized and meet the Definition of Ready.
• Track dependencies, risks and impediments and escalate them when needed.
• Prepare sprint metrics and reports (velocity, throughput, cycle time) and turn them into improvement actions.
• When capacity allows, support the Agile PM lead with milestone tracking, status reports, project documentation and stakeholder communications.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Administration or a related field, remaining enrolled until the end of the internship.
• Eligible to sign an internship agreement with your university.
• Available from February 2027 until June-July 2027.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written.

Required skills

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum and interest in scaled frameworks such as SAFe; Kanban is a plus.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence, including basic JQL.
• Basic SQL and data literacy for building metrics and reports.
• Good command of Excel and/or Power BI (or similar).
• Nice to have: basic scripting or automation (e.g. Python).
