Job description
About the role
Roche's Engineering Excellence & Experience (E3) organization builds application lifecycle platforms, core developer platforms and AI tools. As a Developer Advocate, you act as the Customer Success Champion, engineer-educator and community-builder for the E3 technical ecosystem, bridging the global developer community and internal platform teams. You will work closely with product squads to remove delivery friction and share best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Prototype technical integrations and templates between E3 platforms and business-specific development pipelines.
- Support community members with hands-on troubleshooting, architecture reviews and pairing sessions.
- Create presentations, demos, technical blogs and sample solutions showing E3 capabilities.
- Run inner-sourcing initiatives, internal tech talks and hackathons.
- Give direct feedback on bugs, create feature requests and document workflow friction.
- Represent E3 needs to leadership and stakeholders, and advocate for better documentation, API usability and developer experience.
- Mentor internal engineers and share knowledge on embedded AppSec and AI tools.
- Promote the adoption of E3 across the company and speak for E3 across business units.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of full-stack software development, DevOps or Platform Engineering experience, writing code and analysing architecture pipelines.
- Strong customer focus, ownership and ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous situations.
- Eagerness to represent Roche at internal conferences, global engineering events and inner-source meetups.
- Exceptional storytelling skills for technical audiences, with a track record of blogs, tech talks and workshops.
- Ability to partner with Product, Engineering, Security and Compliance squads to shape roadmaps from developer feedback.
Required skills
- Deep familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude and automated code review agents.
- Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD engines and container orchestration.
- Building reference architectures, starter kits and mock environments that developers can clone and deploy quickly.
