Finance Manager – Venture-Backed Biotech (Barcelona)

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑funded, clinical‑stage biotechnology company in Barcelona that is seeking a Finance Manager to join the finance team and report directly to the CFO. This is the first strategic finance hire, offering the chance to shape and professionalise the finance function across accounting, FP&A, treasury, grants and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Own accounting operations, month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and business partnering.
• Manage cash, treasury activities and runway planning.
• Implement finance systems, processes and internal controls.
• Oversee grants, R&D incentives and related reporting.
• Coordinate audits, tax compliance, payroll oversight and external advisors.

Required profile

• 5–8+ years of finance experience covering accounting and FP&A.
• Background in biotech, life sciences, healthcare, R&D‑intensive environments or Big Four accounting.
• Knowledge of Spanish GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus.
• Proven ability to support senior stakeholders and drive process improvements.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with both strategic and hands‑on execution capability.
