French Teacher

About the role

The British School of Vila-Real is looking for a French teacher. The role covers planning and delivering French lessons, keeping records up to date, supporting students' academic and social needs, and working closely with the psychology department, the academic coordinator and parents.

Key responsibilities

• Plan lessons in advance and send lesson plans by email to the Head of Level and the Academic Coordinator
• Prepare class materials, design monthly assessments and grade all assigned work
• Keep the grade book up to date and enter grades on or before deadlines
• Decorate the classroom with materials related to lessons, activities and holidays
• Perform playground supervision and supervise homework boards every two weeks
• Collaborate with the Psychology Department on students with academic or behavioural issues, special needs and gifted learners, and refer students with emotional, personal or family issues
• Take part in teacher meetings, institutional workshops, parent meetings and school activities, and contact parents when needed
• Record daily attendance, collect assignments for portfolios and help organise community service projects, fairs and fundraising
• Follow the school's work schedule, which varies by grade level, and dress in the required uniform

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• At least 2 years of experience in education
• Advanced English, fluent in speaking, reading and writing
• Proficiency in digital tools and intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Strong organisation, planning, analytical and communication skills, ability to work under pressure and leadership
