Future Projects Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Future Projects Engineer to join the Future Projects Platform Systems team in Getafe, Madrid. You will conduct system‑level technical studies for future projects, derivative concepts, and commercial campaigns across a range of programmes including Medium & Light, A400M, Combat, Tankers and UAV.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure interface and integration of engineering activities to support Airbus product policy.
• Lead or support analysis of competitor products at aircraft, vehicle and component level for strategy, marketing, sales, engineering and technology functions.
• Define top‑level technical objectives and requirements up to MG3 for new or incremental programmes.
• Manage activities required to meet vehicle design and major constituent integration needs up to MG2.
• Perform trade‑off analyses to select optimal vehicle and system architectures.
• Explore technical, manufacturing and operational aspects of innovative configurations and assess value and cost‑benefit.
• Define component design targets, monitor achievement and challenge the Centres of Competence.
• Prioritise and conduct research projects to adapt and develop technologies for enhanced vehicle design.
• Develop knowledge and propose directions on environmental aspects.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of engineering experience, preferably in systems engineering.
• Aeronautical Engineering degree.
• Good knowledge of platform systems.
• Strong command of English.
• Ability to work with uncertainty, flexibility and limited information.
• Team‑working skills and a proactive problem‑solving attitude.
