General Ledger Accountant

About the role

SLS Barcelona, a five-star urban resort in Barcelona's waterfront district, is looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join its Finance team under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Finance. You will support the financial operations of the hotel, manage hotel assets and ensure a centralized accounting environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and consolidate all financial transactions in the general ledger
• Ensure assets are properly capitalized and that necessary adjustments are made before month end
• Support internal and external audits and perform or assist in month-end closing, including journal entries and supporting documentation
• Carry out or assist with balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and oversee credit extension and collection of overdue accounts
• Implement internal controls and oversee internal hotel audits, reporting anomalies to management
• Work with accounts payable and receivable teams, check vouchers, prepare payments and forward them to finance control for authorization
• Maintain the contract log, resolve supplier queries and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports
• Carry out procedures needed to meet legal requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in a hotel's accounting department
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
• Problem-solving mindset, quick learner and team player
