Generative AI Engineer (GenAI Engineer)

About the role

Avanade is recruiting a Generative AI Engineer in Madrid to join its AI & Data team and its Generative AI practice. You will design, build and deploy AI solutions for leading clients, helping them move from AI experimentation to enterprise-scale adoption. The team works with Large Language Models (LLMs), Microsoft Copilot, AI Agents and intelligent business solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client business challenges and identify opportunities for Generative AI and intelligent automation.
• Design and implement AI-powered applications using LLMs, Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft AI technologies.
• Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions with enterprise knowledge sources and vector databases.
• Develop AI Agents and Copilot experiences using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Work with clients to define AI use cases, success metrics and adoption strategies.
• Design prompts, evaluation frameworks and guardrails for responsible, secure AI.
• Deploy scalable AI solutions on Azure and integrate them with enterprise systems.
• Support demonstrations, PoCs, MVPs and client workshops.

Required profile

• Understanding of Generative AI concepts: LLMs, prompt engineering, agentic AI, RAG, embeddings, vector databases and AI orchestration.
• Experience building AI solutions with Python and frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph or AutoGen.
• Familiarity with Azure AI services (Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Foundry, AI Search, Cognitive Services).
• Knowledge of responsible AI, governance, security and compliance.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and business audiences.
• Desirable: advanced degree (Master's/PhD) in AI, computer science, data science or applied mathematics, and experience leading AI transformation initiatives.
