Head of Finance

About the role

Exoticca, an online travel agency focused on long-distance dream trips, is looking for a Head of Finance in Barcelona. You will lead the transformation of its finance operations, building the team, processes and systems that support international accelerated growth. You will be the main finance stakeholder across the organization, working with Accounting and Treasury managers who are already in place.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance, data-driven culture.
• Redesign and implement scalable processes (closing, reporting, reconciliations, AP/AR).
• Act as the main finance contact for every department and ensure the integrity of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow data.
• Build a treasury system, optimize short-term liquidity and manage working capital, payables, receivables and FX exposure.
• Hire, coach and develop finance professionals and prepare the team for external audits.
• Strengthen internal controls, tax compliance and risk management across jurisdictions.
• Drive financial automation (NetSuite/Oracle, Embat) and build unit-economics and KPI dashboards (CAC, contribution margin, cost of sales).
• Partner with Commercial, Marketing and Product on business cases, and own the revenue-recognition policy for prepaid bookings in line with IFRS 15.
• Ensure compliance with travel-sector regulations (e.g. EU Package Travel Directive, ATOL) and negotiate payment terms with suppliers.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally after a tenure at an audit firm or similar, then in scale-ups, tech marketplaces or e-commerce.
• Proven track record of coaching and mentoring finance professionals.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to coordinate external audits.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a strong plus.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting fundraising and Board reporting in a VC-backed company.
• Working knowledge of revenue recognition and travel-sector regulations (IFRS 15, package-travel rules).
• BI/analytics tools such as Looker, Power BI or SQL.
