Head of Financial Lines Iberia

About the role

AIG is looking for a Head of Financial Lines for Iberia, based in Madrid, to lead its Financial Lines underwriting function. The role owns the P&L, budget and forecasts for Financial Lines Iberia and works closely with the EMEA Financial Lines head and the country GM.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and manage Financial Lines underwriting strategy for the Iberia region.
• Manage and lead high-performing Cyber, FI, MLC and PI Com underwriting teams.
• Own the P&L, budget and forecast oversight for Financial Lines Iberia, together with the EMEA FL head and GM.
• Run Iberia's day-to-day business in line with the Head of EMEA and ensure alignment with Sales, Claims, Actuarial, Operations, Finance and other functions.
• Build a profitable, growing portfolio matched to customer demand, including channel and go-to-market strategy.
• Allocate resources with the country GM and EMEA and International Financial Lines functions.
• Manage key broker and client relationships across Iberia.
• Lead product development, build new and adapt existing products, and execute the reinsurance strategy with European and international functions.
• Represent Iberia in senior management committees and act as a thought leader, giving seminars, conferences and media interviews.
• Serve as escalation point for brokers and clients and technical referral point for UWO.
• Oversee succession planning and performance management within FL Iberia.

Required profile

• Several years of insurance operational management experience.
• Proven experience overseeing multiple countries and managing business of comparable scale and complexity.
• Track record of profitable growth in general insurance / financial lines products in European markets.
• Knowledge of the Iberian insurance market(s).
• Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.
