Head of Private Markets Spain & Portugal – Wholesale Banking

About the role

ING is seeking a Head of Private Markets for Spain and Portugal within its Wholesale Banking division. Reporting to the Head of Sector Coverage Spain & Portugal and functionally to EMEA Financial Sponsors Group, the role will lead the development of bespoke financing solutions for private‑capital clients across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver multi‑product financing structures that address the capital needs of private equity, infrastructure and real estate sponsors, including M&A transactions.
• Conduct comprehensive sector, financial and business‑profile analysis and provide product‑neutral reviews of funding alternatives.
• Act as the primary banker for selected financial‑sponsor clients, maintaining strategic dialogue with senior stakeholders.
• Identify and drive cross‑sell opportunities across Leveraged Finance, Corporate Finance, Fund Finance and other ING businesses.
• Lead internal deal teams, support commercial and credit committee submissions, and oversee account planning and performance reviews.
• Contribute to KYC onboarding, remediation efforts and the creation of a centre of excellence for sponsor activity.
• Mentor junior team members, promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, and attract and develop talent.

Required profile

• Pro‑active professional with strong personal drive and international experience.
• Proven ability to manage senior client relationships and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Solid understanding of financial‑sponsor markets and wholesale banking products.
