Head of Release and Deployment Management

About the role

Eurofins Scientific, an international life sciences company, is hiring a Head of Release and Deployment Management in Madrid, Spain. You will govern the end-to-end release lifecycle across more than 500 production instances, ensuring IT applications, infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code releases reach production securely and without disruption to business operations. The role combines technical ownership, operational leadership and cross-functional coordination within the Food and Environment Testing business.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and manage end-to-end deployments across non-production and production environments, maintaining and optimising deployment pipelines, configurations and automation scripts.
• Troubleshoot deployment failures, analyse root causes and ensure fixes are tested and implemented.
• Own deployment tooling (CI/CD pipelines, release orchestration tools) and raise requirements to the Automation team.
• Ensure technical prerequisites are met before each release and take part in incident resolution.
• Coordinate release schedules and dependencies, ensure compliance with ITIL Change Management and communicate clearly with business stakeholders.
• Improve deployment processes, tooling and cost efficiency, promote DevOps best practices and document release and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or equivalent experience.
• 8-10 years of experience in release engineering, deployment management or DevOps-oriented roles.
• Proven hands-on deployment execution and troubleshooting experience.
• Leadership experience in complex, international, large-scale IT ecosystems.
• Able to diagnose issues quickly, driven to automate and scale, and a mix of technical, process and people management skills.

• Microsoft Azure cloud platform
• Azure DevOps Pipelines, Octopus Deploy, Terraform Cloud
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform (or equivalent)
• ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Helix, Jira
• Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana (or equivalent)
