About the role
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a Linux System Administrator to join its Operations Department. The role focuses on managing both high‑performance computing (HPC) and cloud platforms that support cutting‑edge scientific research.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain, update and troubleshoot core IT services such as mail, web, databases and servers.
- Configure and administer storage subsystems and backup solutions.
- Manage and optimise BSC’s HPC supercomputing resources.
- Operate and support cloud environments based on OpenStack, OpenNebula and oVirt.
Required profile
- Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- At least 2 years of experience administering Linux in HPC environments.
- Strong written and spoken English for technical collaboration.
- Experience in research or high‑performance computing settings is a plus.
