Internship: Communications Systems Connectivity Analysis (XPLORER 2027)

About the role

Airbus offers an internship (curricular practicum) for students in their final year of study, based in Getafe, Spain. The 6-month programme runs from February to July 2027, part-time at 5 hours per day (25 hours per week, 8h-13h), with a tutor assigned for continuous monitoring. The student designs and implements a link budget simulation tool to evaluate connectivity capabilities of datalinks (Line of Sight and Satellite) on manned and UAV platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design the human-machine interface of the tool.
• Implement ITU link-related recommendations covering different communication scenarios.
• Integrate map-based coverage and multipath analysis.
• Validate the tool with test cases.

Required profile

• Degree in aeronautical/aerospace, industrial, electronic or telecommunications engineering.
• High-level English (minimum B2, C1 desirable).
• Spanish, French and/or German is an asset.
• Ability to work in an international environment and in a team.

Required skills

• Programming in MATLAB and Python.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
