Product Manager Comms

About the role

A vacancy for a Communication Systems Product Manager has opened within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe, joining the Communications Architectures department. The role covers overall coordination of communication system engineering activities, including time, cost and quality, and supports L1 system design, documentation, integration, verification, certification, security accreditation and qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Manage L1 and L2 technical baselines and technical reviews, and support progress reviews and customer discussions
• Take part in configuration management and coordinate L2/systems contributions and design reviews
• Interface with the customer in Comms and MIDS Working Groups
• Design and support the overall L1 design (FRDs, L1 requirements, interfaces) and validate L2 documentation (SRDs, SDNs, EIRDs, SIDs)
• Lead L1 verification requirements and coverage matrix, and support certification and qualification plans and evidence
• Coordinate system reviews and configuration control of associated systems
• Contribute to other Transport A/C programme architecture activities as backup and support

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, with a PhD or Telecommunications Engineering degree valued
• More than 5 years of experience in system engineering or communications/avionics roles
• Knowledge of A/C and comms architecture of at least one platform (e.g. MRTT, C295/CN235/C212, A400M, Atlante, Neuron)
• Familiarity with System Engineering processes (DPs / ABDs) and airworthiness/certification processes (EASA or INTA based)
• Fluent English and Spanish

• Comms systems: voice-based radio communications, IP/digital communications, tactical datalinks (Link16, Link22)
• Tools: DOORS, DMS, Simulink, MATLAB, CAMEO
• Cyber security awareness for airborne platforms highly considered
