IT Functional Analyst - SAP FICO

About the role

Gategroup is looking for a motivated IT Functional Analyst for its SAP FICO position in Madrid. The role analyzes business requirements and designs system solutions within the SAP environment, delivering high-quality customizations aligned with SAP best practices while remaining flexible enough to propose alternatives that better serve business objectives. Solutions must comply with local legal and regulatory requirements, and the analyst supports the rollout of robust, efficient and scalable processes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements, choose the best practice and customize the SAP FICO system accordingly.
• Write functional specification documents used by developers for enhancements.
• Analyze escalated problems that L2 support could not resolve and propose solutions.
• Train the L2 team and end users on system functionality.
• Take part in rollout project meetings and suggest solutions based on experience.
• Collaborate with IT, internal control and senior finance teams to implement defined processes under tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, IT engineering or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience implementing SAP FICO projects.
• Experience in heterogeneous environments and data integration with SAP.
• Strong communication skills with business users and ability to work with multinational teams.
• Ability to guide and monitor the L2 support team.
• Fluent English speaker.

Required skills

• SAP ECC6 FICO: Classic GL with multiple currencies, AP/AR, Asset Accounting, Automatic Payments, PMW, DME files, electronic bank statements, search strings, LSMW.
• Familiarity with the FICO database dictionary.
• Basic understanding of ABAP code (not mandatory but nice to have).
• Understanding of PCA, CCA and PA structural objects in CO.
• Extensive experience in SAP FICO customization.
