IT Network L2 Engineer

About the role

Gategroup is looking for a motivated IT Network L2 Engineer to report to the Global IT Network Manager. The role covers the operation, administration and continuous improvement of the enterprise network infrastructure at global scale, including LAN, MAN, WAN, partner connectivity and wireless environments. It calls for hands-on experience managing complex, geographically distributed networks with high availability, performance and security.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, support and maintain LAN, MAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, SD-WAN and partner connections
• Administer and support a Zero Trust network in a dynamic global environment
• Select and implement security tools, policies and procedures with the security team
• Troubleshoot and resolve second-level network issues and communicate them to other employees
• Perform root cause analysis of critical outages and incidents
• Monitor, maintain and manage capacity and lifecycle, keeping runbooks up to date
• Ensure compliance, compatibility, security and optimized integration between solutions
• Support the Infrastructure cloud team with cloud network solutions
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and execution
• Take part in a 7-day on-call rotation (10pm–8am weekdays and one weekend) every 4 weeks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in information technology
• 3+ years of experience as a network engineer and 5+ years in an IT infrastructure role
• Experience in a large multinational, matrix-structured company
• Excellent English; another major European language preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work outside office hours for high-severity incidents

• Expert knowledge of routing and switching, network design and best practices
• LAN, WAN and WLAN design and implementation
• Network planning and network security principles
• Cloud network design (Microsoft Azure and AWS)
• Hands-on experience with multiple vendor technologies
• Zero Trust network experience desired
