IT/OT System Engineer - HVDC Control Systems

About the role

Hitachi Energy is setting up an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid (ESOPC) within its Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe. It is looking for an IT/OT System Engineer to join a global team that deploys and secures next-generation control systems for HVDC projects. The engineer integrates and implements features aligned with customer and market needs and contributes to deployments of the MACH control platform in large HVDC project deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the IT/OT System team's system, network and cybersecurity design and implementation for HVDC projects, focusing on OT, HMI, SCADA and automation.
• Build complete infrastructure of networks and systems supporting operations, with defined cybersecurity levels.
• Depending on experience, mentor junior associates and drive knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Depending on experience, help identify and capture opportunities for improvement.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant technical area, preferably computer science, automation or another relevant field.
• Experience in HMI design and testing, and in SCADA, automation design and testing.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, fluent English and comfortable in customer discussions.

Required skills

• HMI design and testing, Aveva platform, MicroSCADA or similar.
• SCADA, automation design and testing, IEC 101, IEC 104, IEC 61850 or similar, plus scripting languages and automation technologies.
• Databases, high-availability solutions, and network equipment such as firewalls, switches, GPS clocks and redundant network designs and protocols.
• Experience with Microsoft client- and server operating systems, Active Directory and security-related systems is meritorious.
