Lead AI Architect

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a Lead AI Architect to lead architecture across its Data Analytics and AI/GenAI offerings. You will design and shape a cloud-native, enterprise-grade SaaS environment built on Azure, using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, modern data lakehouse architecture and AI components powered by LLMs, RAG, OCR and NLP. It is a hands-on leadership role combining high-level architecture with implementation, experimentation and guidance for engineering teams, within the technical leadership group.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure and resilient cloud-native platforms with self-healing and highly available capabilities, and model systems with technical documentation and specifications.
• Guide engineering teams through best practices and design decisions, present architectural roadmaps to product and business stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
• Contribute to development and troubleshooting, lead PoCs of emerging technologies (AI/ML, data engineering, cloud services) and support implementation with practical cloud, code and infrastructure expertise.
• Shape the long-term architecture vision for Data and AI platforms and identify future opportunities in cloud, data, AI and automation.

Required profile

• Strong architectural thinking, a hands-on mindset and curiosity to push technical boundaries.
• Experience coaching multicultural engineering teams.
• English CV accepted only.

Required skills

• Azure cloud architecture (AKS, networking, CDN, WAF).
• SaaS platforms and system design with Java/Spring MVC and distributed systems.
• Zero Trust security, authentication and network security.
• REST, SOAP and event-driven integrations.
• CI/CD, IaC and cloud automation.
• Bonus: SonarQube, Invicti, Aqua; Python.NET or Go; Maven or Gradle.

What we offer

• Base salary in Spain of EUR 60,000 to EUR 100,000 for a full-time role, depending on profile and scope.
