Lead Digital Solutions Engineer - Food & Beverage

About the role

GEA is looking for a Lead Digital Solutions Engineer to drive the development and delivery of digital solutions that improve the performance, reliability, sustainability and operational visibility of industrial process equipment in the Food & Beverage industry. The position can be based in Alcobendas (Spain) or Naas (Ireland), depending on the selected candidate. It suits an experienced engineer who has built and delivered industrial software and has taken on leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical development and lifecycle management of digital products.
• Provide technical leadership to software engineers, automation specialists and external development partners.
• Work with Product Management on priorities, roadmaps and release strategies.
• Translate business and customer needs into epics, features and development tasks, and maintain the product backlog.
• Drive architectural decisions and create solution architecture, design documentation, sprint plans, release notes and backlogs.
• Support software development, API integration, data engineering, troubleshooting, proof-of-concept work and technical design reviews.
• Coordinate upgrades, releases, patches and lifecycle management, and manage delivery risks.
• Deliver monthly performance reports on progress, achievements and KPIs.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• Professional project management certification (PMP, Prince2 or similar).
• Agile certification (Scrum Master, Product Owner or similar).
• 5+ years of experience in industrial software, MES, automation, IIoT or digital manufacturing.
• Experience leading technical teams and coordinating stakeholders.
• English (C1) and fluent Spanish; additional languages such as French, German or Portuguese are an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of data modelling, analytics, system integration and APIs.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Preferred: Azure App Services, Azure DevOps, Databricks, InfluxDB, Angular, digital product design and UX, food & beverage manufacturing processes, ISA-95 and IEC 62443.
