Lead Project Manager – Substations

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for a Lead Project Manager in Madrid to manage customer equipment, facilities or infrastructure projects, such as substations. The role covers project delivery, profit and loss accountability and customer satisfaction, with autonomy within established functional practices and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Act as single point of contact for customers and coordinate internal and external project teams.
• Analyse contract scope, terms and conditions, risks, opportunities and milestones, and run kick-off meetings and regular progress reviews.
• Coordinate local activities: field service, local procurement, logistics, site subcontractors, equipment installation and EHS compliance.
• Assess risks and opportunities regularly, follow up action plans and manage claims when needed.
• Control budget and actual costs (materials, labour, logistics, subcontractors) and propose cost-saving alternatives.
• Follow up sales, invoicing, cash targets and customer payments, and report on time with forecasts.
• Ensure EHS provisions are met at site in line with GE EHS rules.
• Work with tendering and commercial teams to prepare offers, negotiate contracts and support business opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with extensive project management experience in GIS and AIS substations.
• Strong technical knowledge of high voltage (HV) equipment and its business.
• Good written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Valid EU work authorization.
• Proactive, autonomous and resilient, able to manage several projects at once.

Required skills

• Project management and communication skills.
• SAP knowledge is a plus.
• A basic knowledge of Italian procurement law is desirable.
