Lead Software Engineer - Life Sciences

About the role

Clarivate is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join its Life Sciences team in Barcelona. You will lead Pathfinder, a new strategic initiative building a modern, scalable and maintainable application for the life sciences industry. Working in an agile environment alongside Product Management, Architecture and Engineering, you will drive architectural decisions, set engineering best practices and mentor engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend services and APIs in a microservices architecture.
• Build scalable, secure and high-performance solutions with Java and Spring Boot.
• Deploy and operate cloud-native applications on AWS, using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Write clean, tested and documented code following backend best practices.
• Troubleshoot, optimize and maintain existing systems.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps and product teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of industry experience in Java (Spring Boot) and NodeJS, developing backend RESTful services in a microservices architecture.
• 5 years of experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Good knowledge of version control tools, preferably Git.
• Nice to have: Agile delivery experience, Docker and Jenkins experience.
