Machine Learning Engineer III

About the role

Expedia Group B2B is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer III to join its Revenue Optimization ML team. The role combines infrastructure expertise with applied ML knowledge and sits within the Applied Machine Learning team that designs, builds and maintains the infrastructure for deploying ML solutions, managing data pipelines and optimising compute resources for ranking, recommendation and pricing systems. It is primarily an individual contributor role, with mentoring of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable ML infrastructure for training, deployment and serving in batch and real-time environments.
• Build and maintain efficient data pipelines for large-scale processing and feature engineering.
• Optimise compute resources and improve model serving performance.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting, and contribute to MLOps practices including CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with ML scientists to streamline the model development-to-production workflow.
• Research and integrate new technologies, mentor junior engineers and explain technical solutions to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in software, data or ML engineering roles (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in software engineering, data engineering, distributed systems or applied machine learning.
• Experience deploying models to production, managing training data pipelines or optimising compute resources for low-latency inference is valuable.

Required skills

• Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and data systems (Spark, Kafka).
• CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions) and model serving tools (MLflow).

What we offer

• Cash range of EUR 55,500 to EUR 78,000 in Madrid, with potential to reach EUR 89,000 based on sustained performance.
