Mechanical Engineer – Photonic Biosensor Development

About the role

Bioherent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design the mechanical and automation aspects of its photonic biosensors. You will lead process development and design activities to turn prototype concepts into commercial products in a fast‑moving, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and automation features for photonic biosensor systems.
• Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for product commercialisation.
• Translate product requirements into detailed mechanical specifications.
• Validate and test prototypes against technical requirements.
• Produce clear technical documentation throughout the development cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical product development and design.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and machine design principles.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience creating mechanical specifications from product requirements.
• Prototype validation and testing experience.
• Technical documentation generation.
• Knowledge of automation process design and control.
• Basic understanding of electronics and optics.
• Programming in C/C++ and experience with hardware platforms (Arduino, ATMEL).
• Scripting in Python or MATLAB.
