Payroll Team Leader – Spain

About the role

The Payroll Team Leader is responsible for delivering high‑quality payroll operations for Spain and multiple other markets. The role ensures timely, accurate and compliant payroll processing while driving continuous improvement and safeguarding data confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Execute day‑to‑day payroll activities and ensure all tasks in the payroll cycle are completed accurately and on time.
• Plan and carry out annual and year‑end payroll activities proactively.
• Support data collection for payroll audits and compliance checks.
• Review and maintain payroll controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards (e.g., SOP, SOX).
• Stay current with payroll regulations and implement new requirements promptly.
• Provide backup or full execution of payroll for assigned countries/markets as needed.
• Implement new payroll controls, procedures and policies.
• Identify and lead process‑improvement, automation and transformation projects.
• Coordinate payroll‑related matters with Finance, Incentives, Payroll Vendors and other stakeholders.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives and monitor payroll metrics and KPIs.
• Develop, coach and manage performance of direct reports, including hiring and training.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of global payroll laws and best practices.
• Proven experience leading payroll teams and managing performance.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks and internal controls.
• Experience driving process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
