Physical Design Engineer Intern

About the role

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPS), a fast-growing semiconductor company worldwide known for integrated power semiconductors and systems power delivery architectures, is looking for a Junior Digital Physical Design Engineer Intern in Barcelona. The intern assists in the development, design and physical implementation of digital and mixed-signal ICs using leading-edge technologies and industry-standard ASIC tools, with products that may cover power management, signal management and mixed-signal functions.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development and physical implementation of digital and mixed-signal ICs under the supervision of Senior Digital Designers and Physical Designers.
• Develop and review synthesis and P&R SDC constraints, and carry out the synthesis flow.
• Perform logical equivalence checks and the P&R flow.
• Carry out power and IR drop analysis.
• Handle DFT implementation and metrics analysis.
• Work closely with the CAD and Technology Development groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or MS degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on digital design and VLSI coursework.
• Ability to follow instructions and tasks according to design specifications and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of the ASIC development process and digital design techniques.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and strong teamwork and collaboration.

Required skills

• Knowledge of standard behavioral/RTL coding languages such as Verilog and SystemVerilog is a plus.
• Scripting and automation languages such as TCL, Python and C/C++ are a plus.
• Knowledge of SCAN, IDDQ, delay fault, MBIST and LBIST DFT modes is a plus.
