Pre-Sales Engineer - Industrial Machinery & Automation

About the role

TOMRA Food, a multinational provider of sensor-based sorting, peeling and post-harvest solutions for the food industry, is hiring a Pre-Sales Engineer in Valencia. Working with Sales and Service teams, you will analyse customer processes, support product demonstrations and field trials, evaluate equipment performance and help define the technical configuration for each application.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Sales and customers to understand their production processes and technical requirements, and identify the right technical solution.
• Analyse customer processes, production requirements, equipment performance and operational data.
• Support and run product demonstrations, customer trials, field tests, testing and performance validation.
• Define equipment configurations and contribute to technical specifications, system layouts, quotations and supporting documentation.
• Design and evaluate processing solutions, including integration of TOMRA and third-party equipment.
• Use operational data to suggest improvements to equipment performance, utilisation and customer processes.
• Present technical solutions in customer meetings, presentations, workshops, webinars and reference visits.
• Work with Sales, Service, Engineering and other teams, support the technical handover of awarded projects, share application knowledge and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Technology, Automation or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with industrial machinery, automation, processing equipment, material handling or similar equipment-based environments.
• Experience interacting directly with customers in a technical capacity.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, and clear communication of technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to interpret operational data and equipment performance information.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% across the EMEA region and a valid unrestricted driving licence.
• Nice to have: food processing or Agri-Tech, field service or application engineering, technical sales or pre-sales, industrial automation, equipment demonstrations, commissioning or performance testing, technical specifications and presentations, system layouts, process design, AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
