Principal AI Engineer

About the role

NielsenIQ is looking for a Principal AI Engineer to join its Enterprise Productivity team, an agile group building AI-driven solutions that improve how the company operates. The role sits at the intersection of AI, engineering and business operations: partnering with teams across the company to find inefficiencies, prototype solutions quickly and deploy scalable AI tools. It is a fast-moving, hands-on position operating globally.

Key responsibilities

• Embed with business teams to understand workflows, pain points and opportunities for automation and optimization.
• Design and build AI-powered tools that improve internal productivity across finance, HR, operations, sales and marketing.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate using modern AI/ML technologies such as LLMs, copilots and automation pipelines.
• Deploy solutions in production, ensuring reliability, usability and measurable impact.
• Bridge technical and non-technical teams, turning business problems into scalable engineering solutions.
• Drive end-to-end delivery, from problem discovery to rollout and adoption.
• Create reusable frameworks and platforms to accelerate future AI deployments.
• Work globally with distributed teams so solutions scale across regions.

Required profile

• 7-10+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning or applied AI.
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and move quickly in fast-paced environments.
• Strong product and user mindset, excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
• High ownership, ability to support multiple workstreams in parallel, and mentoring experience.

Required skills

• Production-grade systems in cloud environments, with AI/ML systems, ideally with LLMs or generative AI.
• Building, orchestrating and monitoring agentic/multi-agentic AI workflows.
• Full-stack ability (APIs, data pipelines, front-end interfaces when needed).
• System design, distributed systems and scalable architectures, with knowledge of data engineering and analytics workflows.
• Familiarity with governance, security and compliance for enterprise AI.
• Nice to have: ERP, CRM and workflow tools; Azure AI, Microsoft Copilot and the Microsoft ecosystem; forward-deployed, solutions engineering or consulting experience; process optimization, automation or digital transformation background.
