Product Engineer, Accounts Receivable

About the role

Causa Prima builds AI agents that work across company boundaries, such as connecting the view of an invoice stuck in a buyer's approval queue with the payment a supplier is chasing. As a Product Engineer, Accounts Receivable, you will turn receivables knowledge into digital products: talking with customers, building prototypes and working with developers to deliver reliable solutions. The position is full-time, onsite in Munich or Madrid, and requires fluent English.

Key responsibilities

• Work with receivables teams to understand why invoices stay unpaid, how overdue balances are prioritised and what payment blockers exist.
• Design how agents decide which accounts need attention, gather facts, follow up and escalate, and handle partial disputes, non-replies and payment promises.
• Shape how agents exchange missing documents, investigate deductions and route discrepancies to the right person.
• Design how payments and remittance information are matched to open invoices, including partial payments, missing references and transfers covering several invoices.
• Build prototypes with AI coding tools, test with users and work with engineering on production delivery, turning receivables rules and exceptions into precise specs and acceptance criteria.
• Define agent limits and results, which actions need human approval and how users can trace what happened.

Required profile

• Receivables knowledge gained in practice, such as collections, disputes, deductions or cash application, in accounting, audit, advisory, a finance team or software.
• Customer-facing analytical judgment: able to distinguish an unpaid invoice from a disputed balance or unapplied receipt and change recommendations with new evidence.
• Ownership through delivery: has taken a financial process or customer problem through to an implemented change.
• Able to break a receivables process into steps, data, rules and exceptions a developer can build against, and to learn technical concepts quickly.
• Willingness to relocate to Munich or Madrid.

Nice to have

• Buyer-side process knowledge, such as invoice matching, approvals and payment runs.
• ERP implementation experience with receivables ledgers, remittance data or cash-application integrations.
• Agentic product experience, including agents acting within defined policies and human approvals.
