Product Owner, Agentic Platform & Enterprise Interfaces

About the role

AstraZeneca is looking for a Product Owner for its agentic platform and enterprise interfaces, used by scientists and clinicians in R&D. The role owns the skills library, marketplace and data connectors that make AI assistants useful, while keeping data access governed, costs and usage visible, and users well supported. It is an in-office position in Barcelona with a minimum of three days per week on site; remote or travel flexibility is not available.

Key responsibilities

• Own the roadmap, backlog and release priorities for the R&D agentic platform and its interfaces, working with engineering leads on scope and sequencing, and decide what the platform does itself versus what moves to enterprise assistants.
• Write clear product requirements, acceptance criteria and release notes, and keep decisions documented.
• Own the skills library and marketplace, including intake, quality review, publication, retirement and ownership of each skill.
• Own the connector roadmap, including connectors to enterprise data and systems built on open standards such as MCP, prioritising requests against value, risk and engineering capacity, and setting approval criteria with security, architecture and data owners.
• Define data access flows and approval criteria with data owners and security, track security findings to closure, and keep access, audit and retention requirements visible in the backlog.
• Run the intake and onboarding process for new users and groups, including seat allocation and weekly review of access requests, and handle support queues, user communications and training.
• Own usage and cost metrics, including model and token cost per session, and define value measures and user stories with finance and platform teams.
• Collaborate with AI scientists, engineers, the Enterprise AI gateway and platform teams, security, architecture and business sponsors, and communicate clearly what is shipping, blocked or waiting.

Required profile

• 5+ years as a product owner or product manager of a technical, data, API or developer-facing product.
• Experience with LLM-based applications or agentic systems, including how skills, tools and connectors are managed.
• Experience managing user access, onboarding and support for an enterprise tool.
• Understanding of information security and data access governance, ideally in a regulated environment.
• Experience tracking usage and cost for cloud or AI services and making product decisions from the data.
• Proven ability to prioritise a long request queue and communicate trade-offs clearly.
• Desirable: pharmaceutical or life sciences R&D experience, FinOps familiarity, and working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of APIs, integration patterns and ideally the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Working knowledge of Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
