Quality Engineer - UAV Manufacturing

About the role

Destinus develops Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for the defense industry and is looking for a Quality Engineer in Madrid. The engineer ensures the highest quality on the production floor, drives quality improvement initiatives, identifies defects early and supports a quality culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain quality assurance procedures and protocols compliant with industry standards and internal specifications.
• Analyze non-conformities, root causes and corrective actions, documenting findings and recommending process improvements.
• Oversee inspections and coordinate testing to verify product quality throughout production.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
• Train production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques and the importance of quality.
• Collect and analyze quality data, prepare reports for management and stakeholders, and manage supplier quality through audits and assessments.
• Support the quality inspection team (currently 4 FTEs) with technical guidance and maintain quality documentation.
• Work with engineering, production and design teams so quality is built into product development and manufacturing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in aerospace, automotive or manufacturing.
• Experience supporting or mentoring a small team of quality inspectors or technicians is preferred.
• Fluent English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Understanding of ISO and AS9100 quality standards.
• Quality control tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, SPC and Six Sigma.
• Inspection and testing methods and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Quality management software and data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel and Power BI.
