Robotics Software Engineer, Test Infrastructure

About the role

This position sits within ABB's Robotics business, which is preparing for SoftBank Group's acquisition of ABB Robotics. Reporting to the R&D Team Lead, you will build and evolve the software infrastructure that enables reliable, continuous testing of autonomous robotic systems. You will work on the Sevensense by ABB team, based in Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona), with colleagues in Zurich, Switzerland, making testing of the visual localization system more scalable, reliable and developer-friendly.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable test execution infrastructure across virtual, HIL and physical test environments.
• Build software for test orchestration, resource scheduling, test environment setup, deployment and result collection.
• Integrate test environments with CI/CD and improve runner reliability, parallelization, caching, failure recovery and execution speed.
• Develop tools and APIs for debugging, observability, failure analysis and infrastructure health.
• Make test execution reproducible and reliable, helping distinguish infrastructure failures from product regressions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure engineering.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong hands-on Linux experience, including system troubleshooting, networking and containerized/virtualized environments.
• English communication at ease.
• Previous robotics experience is not required.

Required skills

• Strong Python; Rust or C++ highly desirable.
• CI/CD infrastructure (runners, jobs, artifacts, caching, parallel execution, failure recovery).
• Docker and software deployment/configuration.
• HIL, embedded or edge devices (Jetson), robotics or ROS2 are a strong plus.
