Security Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

As a Security Engineer at Syntax you will help industrial customers modernise their security architectures and build cyber‑resilience across private, public and hybrid cloud environments. You will work with international experts to design, implement and continuously improve managed security services.

Key responsibilities

• Advise customers on security design, development and operational issues.
• Analyse, design and evolve security services, contributing to new managed offerings.
• Deploy and operate modern security technologies such as EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, PAM, vulnerability management and SIEM.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external security incidents from detection through containment, eradication and lessons learned.
• Perform threat hunting, threat intelligence analysis and develop defence mechanisms against emerging threats.
• Collaborate on security requirements, guidelines and controls to improve customers’ overall security posture.
• Work closely with European and global security teams to enhance solutions, methods and automation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of IT/cybersecurity, networks, operating systems and modern security architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with security tools such as EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, PAM, SIEM and vulnerability management.
• Interest or experience in automation and scripting (Ansible, SALT, Python, PowerShell).
• Understanding of indicators of compromise, risk modelling and security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST).
• Excellent English; German is a plus.
• Spanish or Portuguese nationality, or a permanent work permit/VISA for Spain or Portugal.
