Senior Aerodynamics Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence & Space is looking for a passionate Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to join its Flight Physics team in Getafe. You will directly influence the external aerodynamic design, flight performance and safe operation of next-generation aircraft, working on CFD modelling, wind tunnel testing and safe separation analysis in a collaborative, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Shape external air vehicle geometries and build comprehensive aerodynamic databases (steady and unsteady loads, performance, stability and handling qualities)
• Run CFD simulation campaigns and take part in experimental wind tunnel testing
• Perform safe separation analyses for external stores and complex maneuvers
• Develop, optimize and maintain aerodynamic methods, Python/Matlab scripts and technological roadmaps aligned with Airbus strategy
• Collaborate with international experts in Flight Physics, Structures, Flight Control, Loads and Mass Properties, and with external aerospace research communities
• Deliver high-impact aerodynamic solutions meeting time, cost and quality standards across the aircraft lifecycle

Required profile

• Master's degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in military transport or combat aircraft aerodynamics (shape design, characterization, CFD, wind tunnel testing or safe separation); civil aircraft experience is highly valued
• Advanced (C1) English
• Nice to have: PhD in Aerospace Engineering (Aerodynamics or Fluid Dynamics), previous aerodynamic shape design and optimization, practical experience building aerodynamic databases, German or French

Required skills

• Strong foundation in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and flight mechanics
• Nice to have: CFD, high-performance meshing and solver execution, Python, Matlab or CATIA, wind tunnel testing and safe separation analysis
