Senior Aerodynamics Engineer

About the role

Aerodynamics Engineer position at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate joins the Aerodynamics Team, which develops and optimizes the aerodynamics of Airbus Defence & Space aircraft in a multidisciplinary Flight Physics environment and works closely with international partners. The role reinforces the Flight Physics division with projects such as external shape design, steady and unsteady aerodynamic data modeling, safe separation analysis and wind tunnel test campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Design air vehicle external shapes and deliver optimized aerodynamic solutions, performance data, handling qualities and loads models on time, cost and quality.
• Develop and maintain technologies, methods, tools and expertise across the Aerodynamics discipline throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
• Build expertise in numerical and experimental aerodynamic prediction tools and advance innovative aerodynamic technologies aligned with company strategy.
• Connect with the external research community on aerodynamics and air vehicle design and optimization.
• Collaborate with flight physics disciplines such as structures, loads, stability & control and mass properties.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in aerodynamic design and characterization.
• Advanced written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Adaptability to a collaborative, multidisciplinary and international environment.
• PhD in Aerospace Engineering and wind tunnel testing, safe separation, Python, Matlab and German/French experience are valued.

Required skills

• Meshing and numerical aerodynamic prediction tools.
• CAD tools and generation of aerodynamic databases from experimental and CFD data.
