Senior Backend Engineer – Fintech Core Systems

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing international fintech to strengthen its core systems team. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own the development and evolution of the multi‑currency accounting and foreign‑exchange platform that underpins the product.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable, reliable backend services that support key financial operations.
• Design new micro‑services and improve existing ones, including legacy components.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver initiatives from concept to production.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the technical growth of the team.
• Take full ownership of the services you build, covering development, monitoring, and maintenance.

Required profile

• Strong experience building complex backend systems (Python preferred, other OOP languages welcome).
• Background in fintech, banking, or other regulated environments is highly valued.
• Comfortable working with and refactoring legacy code.
• Deep knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, monitoring, and alerting.
• Excellent communication skills in English and an ownership mindset.
