Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Join Zurich's Retail Technology AI & Data team in Barcelona to design and deliver end‑to‑end data and AI solutions that power claims, pricing and underwriting. You will work on high‑impact use cases, see your work in production, and collaborate closely with actuaries, data scientists and product owners.

Key responsibilities

• Architect scalable, secure data pipelines and services on AWS or Azure, using Spark/Databricks.
• Implement high‑performance ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data quality, lineage and reliability.
• Build CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins) for data platforms and ML products, supporting automated testing and deployment.
• Develop cloud‑native microservices and APIs that expose data and AI capabilities.
• Define MLOps strategies for model versioning, feature stores, monitoring and drift detection.
• Design AI‑powered products with LLMs, including prompt engineering and retrieval‑augmented generation.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of Python development for production‑grade data and backend solutions.
• 5 years of cloud engineering experience on AWS or Azure, preferably in data‑intensive environments.
• Strong background in Databricks, Spark and CI/CD/DevOps practices.
• Experience building microservices, APIs and MLOps pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs and AI agents (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
