Senior Manager, Finance - Southern Europe

About the role

FTI Consulting is looking for a Senior Finance Manager to join its EMEA Finance Team and support the business across the Southern Europe region (Spain, Portugal and Italy). Based in Madrid, the role sits within the EMEA Finance organisation and reports to the EMEA Finance Senior Director. It works closely with EMEA and Segment Finance, other EMEA Controllers, Payroll, Shared Services, Billing and Cash Management, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure proper accounting under US GAAP and local GAAP, write memos on complex accounting matters and manage day-to-day accounting including month-end close
• Support the EMEA Shared Services accounting team on close requirements such as lease accounting and fixed assets
• Keep Southern Europe accounting records accurate, including financial statements, VAT, social security, withholding tax and other statutory returns
• Support external statutory filings and audits, and coordinate SOX controls, design, implementation and testing with internal audit
• Drive the country cluster finance operating model, coordinate with the EMEA Shared Service Centre on accounts payable, billing, cash and banking and travel and expense, and oversee payroll in partnership with HR
• Be the point of contact for country leaders on finance matters and support quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
• Support ad hoc regional and segment needs, lead improvement projects and contribute to decision-support reporting and tools

Required profile

• Degree in business administration with a focus on accounting, controlling or finance, or equivalent
• Experience in accounting, finance or controllership in an international organisation
• Preferred: experience in a professional services environment or consulting firm, and experience coordinating finance professionals and external service providers across multiple jurisdictions

Required skills

• Working knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP requirements in Spain, Portugal and Italy
• Understanding of SOX requirements for a U.S. listed company
• Ability to coordinate with external accounting, payroll and tax service providers across the three countries
