gevernova · Barcelona
Job description
About the role
GE Vernova is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Wind Global Machine Head Driveline subsystem team in Barcelona. The team owns the mechanical hardware of utility-scale wind turbines (main bearing, main shaft, covers, rotor locks, rotor brakes and couplings), covering new product introduction, validation and testing, field support and root cause analysis. The engineer will focus on the high-speed rotor lock, rotor brake and flex coupling, supporting them from conceptual design through detailed design, testing, qualification, manufacturing, validation and installed fleet support.
Key responsibilities
- Lead component design and development: build-to-spec rotor brakes and couplings, and build-to-print rotor locks; own specification, system interaction analysis and reliability verification through physical testing.
- Drive new product introduction and new technology integration from concept to validated production release.
- Own design quality and documentation standards: drawings, bills of materials and specifications, and drive lessons learned, design best practices and standardization.
- Develop validation plans and testing programs, and resolve field issues through root cause analysis and design-based corrective actions.
- Work with quality, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers and field teams to improve product quality and first-time yield, and handle NCR, SDR and PAC issues.
- Identify cost-saving strategies and introduce advanced materials, manufacturing methods and design tools.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Major experience in mechanical analysis and design in an industrial or product engineering environment.
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to lead global projects across different geographies and cultures.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Preferred: Master's degree, experience in powertrain components, wind turbine or power generation product design, and experience with system design, DFMEA, DFM/DFI/DFS and PLM.
Required skills
- Technical drawings, GD&T and manufacturing processes.
- 3D CAD, specifically Unigraphics / Siemens NX.
- Preferred: ANSYS or other FEA tools.
What we offer
- Relocation assistance provided.
- Varied, competitive benefits and investment in on-the-job learning and career growth.
