Senior Security Engineer - Workload Security (Hybrid)

About the role

Swiss Re's Cyber Defence organization is looking for a Senior Security Engineer - Workload Security & XDR in Madrid, with a hybrid option. You will design, engineer and operate security capabilities protecting endpoints, servers, containers and cloud-native workloads across the group's global environment, combining security engineering expertise with knowledge of modern infrastructure and cloud-native technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, engineer and operate endpoint and workload security across Windows, Linux, cloud and containerized environments
• Build Linux and Kubernetes workload security, including runtime protection, visibility, vulnerability management and behavioral detection
• Tune Falco-based runtime detection rules and security policies on platforms such as Sysdig Secure
• Work with enterprise Kubernetes platforms such as AKS
• Deploy security via Helm, Argo CD, GitOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Partner with Detection Engineering and Incident Response teams so telemetry supports detection, threat hunting and forensics
• Troubleshoot complex issues across endpoints, Linux workloads, container platforms, APIs, networks and distributed environments
• Evaluate new technologies, give technical direction, run design reviews and mentor engineers

Required profile

• Several years of experience in security engineering, EDR/XDR, workload protection or cloud/container security
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux security fundamentals
• Hands-on Kubernetes and container security experience (workloads, nodes, namespaces, RBAC, networking)
• Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms, including enterprise CaaS environments
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across OS, security technologies, container platforms and cloud infrastructure
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required skills

• Sysdig Secure, Falco or similar workload and runtime security tools
• Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Scripting, APIs and automation with PowerShell, Python or Bash
• Azure and cloud security concepts
• Nice to have: Microsoft Defender XDR, Terraform, SRE or platform engineering exposure, Kubernetes security certifications (CKA, CKS, KCSA)

The base salary range for Spain is EUR 60,000 to EUR 100,000 for a full-time role, depending on profile and requirements. Applications should be submitted in English.
