Senior Software Engineer (Python, Cloud-Native)

About the role

Future Connections is looking for an experienced software engineer who takes ownership of projects from concept to deployment. You will join a collaborative team where your technical judgement, hands-on skills and ability to see the bigger picture are highly valued. The position is based anywhere within Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Design and deploy infrastructure, ideally using Kubernetes and cloud-native tools.
• Write high-quality software, mainly in Python, following best practices in design, testing and maintainability.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines working with large-scale datasets.
• Manage relational and non-relational databases with confidence and autonomy.
• Automate deployments and integrations, contributing to the evolution of DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, bringing clarity and technical insight.

Required profile

• Solid technical foundation, hands-on experience and a proactive mindset.
• Ideally 6+ years of relevant professional experience in software development.
• Nice to have: comfort in a collaborative environment with autonomy and ownership.

Required skills

• Event-driven distributed systems with Kafka, Pulsar or RabbitMQ, and scalable data ingestion pipelines.
• Microservices, high availability, fault tolerance and performance optimisation.
• Large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines, analytical data models and formats such as Parquet.
• Unit, integration, end-to-end and API contract testing.
• Observability with metrics, logging, distributed tracing, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes and containerised environments.
• CI/CD pipelines, SQL and/or NoSQL databases, and ETL processes.
• Architecture documentation, mentoring engineers and defining engineering standards.
