Senior Stress Engineer - Structural Stress & Fatigue Specialist

About the role

Aerospacial company Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Structural Stress & Fatigue Specialist (metal and composites) to join its Structural Stress Analysis team in Getafe, Madrid. The department sizes, verifies and ensures the structural integrity and damage tolerance of aerospace components. The role also involves program management across several disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Structural analysis during conceptual design, definition, development and modification phases
• Trade-off analysis of different design solutions and definition of structural arrangements
• Sizing of structural components, parts and assemblies, including selection of manufacturing technologies, materials and standards
• Support of the mechanical system installation design office
• Analysis of certification requirements according to rules and standards, and definition of compliance means
• Structural test definition, test support and assessment of results
• Participation in the development of engineering and manufacturing technology areas
• Program management involving different disciplines

Required profile

• University degree in aeronautical engineering or equivalent
• At least 5-10 years of experience in structural analysis of airframe components
• Knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes and metallic and composite materials
• Fluent English

Required skills

• Stress tools (FEM and software packages)
• Standard stress methods such as HSB, Bruhn, ESDU and Roark & Young
• Qualification and certification of aircraft structures, and aircraft development processes
• Structural test techniques
• Preferred: knowledge of AW requirements and military standards, and program management experience
