Software Development Engineer II - TAAP Platform

About the role

Expedia Group's B2B division brings its technology and distribution solutions to partners worldwide, including financial institutions, corporate managed travel, offline travel agents and major airlines. The TAAP (Travel Agent Affiliate Program) engineering team, based in Madrid, builds reliable, scalable and modern B2B solutions for travel agents. You will join a collaborative, distributed engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver software features and services for the TAAP platform used by travel agent partners globally.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code across the full software development lifecycle, mainly with Java and JVM-based technologies.
• Build responsive, accessible and maintainable user interfaces with React.js.
• Take part in architectural discussions and technical decisions shaping the platform.
• Work with product managers, designers and other engineers to turn business requirements into scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, and review peer code with constructive feedback.
• Improve engineering practices, tooling and processes, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end B2B experiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in scalable, distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms and system design.
• English proficiency and ability to work in a distributed, cross-functional team.
• Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Required skills

• JVM-based languages such as Java, Kotlin or Scala
• React.js for web applications
• RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes)
