Software Engineer - Frontend Platform (Code Foundations)

About the role

Back Market, a global marketplace for refurbished devices, is looking for an experienced Software Engineer focused on frontend foundations. The role is hands-on and builds-it-and-run-it: you will work on frontend architecture, CI/CD, performance, observability, deployment and platform tooling, collaborating with product engineers, platform teams and technical leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Build and improve platform capabilities and "Golden Paths" for frontend engineers.
• Make frontend delivery more consistent, reliable and self-service.
• Improve the developer experience across local development, testing, CI/CD, releases and deployments.
• Work on complex frontend topics such as caching, performance, configuration, observability and application architecture.
• Help define sensible standards without unnecessary ceremony.
• Write maintainable code with tests and documentation, and take part in code reviews, incident response and investigations.
• Share knowledge and help make the platform easier to use.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Solid frontend fundamentals: browser behaviour, HTTP, SSR, APIs, performance and application architecture.
• Experience with Vue.js and Nuxt, or a comparable frontend ecosystem.
• Good understanding of caching and performance trade-offs (cache keys, invalidation, freshness, consistency, privacy).
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and production software delivery.
• Interest in backend services, infrastructure, observability and developer tooling.
• Strong ownership, pragmatic problem-solving, clear communication and good written and spoken English.

• Data and messaging: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, BigQuery
• Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, CircleCI, GitHub, BackStage, Grafana, Open Telemetry

The recruitment process includes an HR screening, a coding and testing module, a system design discussion, interviews with technical leadership and the manager, and a values interview. The company works hybrid, with three days per week in the office (Monday mandatory) and one remote week per quarter.
